Minister-President of the Walloon Government, Willy Borsus, visits Safran Aero Boosters
The Minister began the tour at the Safran Aero Booster's Technical Department where he found out about our operations in terms of designing boosters, particularly our research work in the field of aerodynamics. When looking around the workshops, the Minister noted that in order to take up the challenges of the monumental ramp-up in production, 80% of our workshops were being reconfigured, with the lean concept being pushed to the maximum.
He stopped at the mid-sized drums line where he was able to find out about the flexible line concept. François Lepot, Senior Vice President Operations, told him about the assets of these new industrial resources, which provide a means of ensuring the ramp-up in production of our modules for the LEAP engine. The Minister then find out about the research we are conducting in the field of composite materials and additive manufacturing, before looking around the composites room.
The Minister concluded their tour at the assembly hall where he was able to see the finished product. Willy Borsus was very interested and asked a lot of questions, in addition to talking with the staff he visited on the site. He also congratulated the Safran Aero Booster teams, saying that he was "very proud that this company, which is a shining example of Walloon expertise in such a high-tech sector."
