Safran Aero Boosters is the world leader in the design, manufacture and assembly of low-pressure compressors, front bearing supports and lubricating and cooling equipment for turbofan engines. The company is also specialized in the manufacture and assembly of fan disks, thus confirming its status as an expert on the front sections of turbofan engines.

Test Cells

Safran Test Cells, a subsidiary of Safran Aero Boosters, has specialized for over 60 years in Aero-Engine Test Facilities for the Commercial & Military Market. The Company offers turnkey test facility projects or upgrades, data acquisition and control system, engine test equipment and services. Its added value lies in A to Z project management, compliant with EN9100 standards.

Space valves

Safran Aero Boosters specializes in flow regulation valves for space launcher engines and stages. The company developed its equipment for extreme conditions and has demonstrated 100% reliability over 45 years. With a strong focus on Research and Technology, Safran Aero Boosters is a partner on all future European propulsion programs.

Based near Liège in Belgium, the headquarters of Safran Aero Boosters group together, on one site, all the services and facilities required to provide integrated and innovative solutions for its clients all over the world. Safran Aero Boosters is the world leader in low-pressure compressors and bearing supports and a partner to the world's leading engine manufacturers.

The company has been involved in most aerospace programs in the last few decades. To meet its clients' needs more effectively, Safran Aero Boosters decided to consolidate and extend its expertise by acquiring four subsidiaries: Safran Test Cells (test facilities), Safran Oil Systems (oil tanks), Safran Blades (production plant for aircraft-engie compressor blades) and BeCOVER (Aerodynamic test center for aircraft compressors of the future). 

The Company also Safran Aero Boosters runs and provides 4 development and production test cells in a former military fort.

World leader in test facilities

Safran Test Cells has been a subsidiary of Safran Aero Boosters since 2003. The company designs and produces test facilities for aero-engines of all types, including military and commercial turbofan, turboprop and turboshaft engines. The 80 staff employed at Safran Test Cells in Minnesota, USA work in close collaboration with the Department of 60 people based in Belgium. The teams have 60 years of experience in test-cell engineering for aero-engines: turnkey test cells, test-cell upgrades and adaptation projects, data acquisition and control systems (DACS), test equipment and services.

Safran Oil Systems

Specialist in oil tanks for aero-engines

Safran Aero Boosters, already the world leader in lubrication pumps at the time, acquired Safran Oil Systems in order to extend its range to all aircraft engine lubrication and cooling equipment. Safran Oil Systems boasts full oil tank design, engineering, manufacturing and repair capabilities and its products currently make up 75% of the world civil market.

Its technique for machine-welding thin stainless-steel sheets is the optimum solution for meeting weight and fire-resistance constraints and makes it possible to produce tanks for oil systems that are perfectly in line with the needs of all aircraft engine manufacturers.

Safran Blades

A new center of excellence to help control our supply chain

Located in the Walloon region of Belgium, in the Province of Liège, Safran Blades – the new production plant for aircraft-engine compressor blades, created in partnership with the Belgian and Walloon public authorities – has launched its first recruitment drive.

Covering a surface area of 10,000m2, built on a former industrial site, this center of excellence will incorporate Safran’s very best industrial technologies to meet the highest global standards. Bringing together automated equipment, highly-qualified personnel and the most advanced digital technologies, this new 4.0 Factory will produce more than 2,000 blades a day, with innovative, autonomous real-time quality control at every critical stage of production.

Management

Safran Aero Boosters is a Safran Group Company (F-67% of share capital) whose other shareholders are the Région Wallonne de Belgique (B-31%) and the Société Fédérale d’Investissement et de Participation (B-2%).

Safran Aero Booster's business is overseen by a board of directors representing the shareholders. Together, they determine the company's general policy, main priorities and strategy.

We employ the very best technology in our products and workshops, while ensuring that people remain at the heart of the company's priorities and seeking to reduce the environmental footprint of our activities as much as possible.

Today, the work carried out by our operators and technicians is changing, with the arrival of data digitization and new equipment in the workshops, such as flexible manufacturing lines. Safran Aero Boosters is putting training courses in place to teach its staff these new skills and techniques.

The company has also made sustainable development a priority and implemented an action plan to reduce the industrial emissions, product green energy, protect the site biodiversity, manage water and waste, use organic and locally-produced food in the staff canteen, etc.
