General Electric praises Techspace Aero (Safran) for its help in reducing the weight of the GE9X engine
In late January 2015, managers from General Electric praised Techspace Aero for its efforts in developing the GE9X engine intended for the future B777X aircraft. Techspace Aero is responsible for the low-pressure compressor and fan disk for the future engine and successfully reduced its weight.
The drive to reduce engine weight is a major concern for all stakeholders in the aerospace propulsion sector as it provides a means of complying with environmental requirements and cutting engine running costs. As a technology leader, Techspace Aero is making every effort to manufacture smaller and lighter low-pressure compressors with more efficient aerodynamics.
